CEO & Chief Learning Strategist
Like you, educator and learning strategist Tracy King has witnessed radical shifts in education as technology redefines the learning environment and research reveals what learning brains need to succeed.
With over 20 years in the workforce development industry serving academic, corporate and professional association markets, Tracy’s in-the-trenches experience inspires her drive to research the intersection of learning science and technology. She’s a thought leader who breaks down the science into strategies that work. She has developed models for transformational learning design, engagement, and strategic innovation – and is the award winning author of bestseller Competitive Advantage: Create Continuing Education That Is Profitable, Sustainable, and Impactful.
Tracy has a Master’s degree in Communication; she taught communication theory and public speech at multiple academic centers to students around the world earning two awards of Teaching Excellence. She is an experienced speech coach and is now an invited speaker on education strategy and learning design.
“When I started my teaching career I could see before my eyes when my methods succeeded or epically failed,” says King. “That experience sparked my passion to understand why – and to bring those principles forward into my work.”
Complementing her own study of the learning sciences, Tracy has been mentored by neuroscientists in NeuroEducation and has worked alongside them applying those best practices in designing cutting edge online continuing medical education programs. The programs Tracy has established feature a variety of learning formats from live forums and workshops to digital self-assessment, performance improvement, and interactive multi-media education. Her programs routinely receive high ratings and defy industry completion rate standards.
Tracy writes and speaks about the business of learning, education technology, and designing transformational experiences. Her work has been featured on NBC, ABC, FOX, USA Today, CW, The Star Tribune, Forbes and hundreds of nationally-syndicated television, newspaper, and magazine outlets.
Tracy is a Certified Association Executive (CAE), the highest credential in nonprofit organization management. This mark of distinction is held by less than 5% of all association professionals. She also holds a CVEP credential acknowledging expertise in virtual, hybrid, and online learning.
In recognition of her expertise as a leader and innovator in the association profession, Tracy was selected as an ASAE Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP) Scholar. She also served on the ASAE Professional Development Section Council, which promotes leading edge practices in adult continuing education, and was the 2015 Council Chair.
Tracy is located in Minneapolis, the mother of four children and two rescue dogs. She enjoys travel and photography. As a Great Lakes native she loves the stunning Lake Michigan and Superior landscapes such as the Apostle Islands, third coast beaches, Leelanau Peninsula vineyards, and the Lake Superior ice caves (pictured below).
